It’s a decent (only because of the power rating) subwoofer system most suitable for a computer system that is approriate for providing bass for little computer speakers or a small room in an apartment, but that’s about it. It’s little more than a high-powered Bose “bass module”.
If you want a real world inexpensive powered subwoofer even for a computer, I suggest you look at Klipsch, MTX, Audiosource, or Dayton Audio.
But if you want the best you can get for $300, you cannot do any better than a Dayton 15″ 240-watt powered subwoofer. The catch? You have to assemble it. If you can put together a TV stand, you can build this sub and have one of the best bang for your buck in consumer electronics.
Bottom line, a 5.25″ woofer (even two woofers) are no match for a single 8″-12″ woofer, not to mention a 15″ woofer because they just cannot move as much air. When it comes to bass (i.e. foundation shaking subterranean performance), there’s no substitute for inches.
It’s ok, a cheap small sub. If you want better bass, look for a different sub with more power and a larger driver.
