and why ken himself recommends the 5d for landscape huh?
ehm…….try it yourself, i know Ken Rockwell…nice reviews nd stuff, but actually you should try yourself ok?
Do you frequently listen to Ken Rockwell? Sharpness has nothing to do with the camera body. It has to do with your lenses and your out-camera sharpening on RAW files. The 5D tends to do that well, but it has nothing to do with the camera itself.
for landscape photopraph keep your 5d its much sharper than the D3
I have a 5D, and I have a lot of L glass, but I really am thinking of getting a D3, because of its speed, performance and ergonomics. Also, there are some Nikon lenses that really appeal to me at the moment. My brother shoots with a 1Ds Mark III, and he’s going to get mad at me for wanting a D3.
Shame the D3 is better!
I’ve got a Canon 1D MKIII , and a D3; they’re both great, but if I had to pick one for that once in a lifetime shot, it would be the Canon 1D MKIII; the AF is dead on, it’s faster, and if it’s OOF, it’s my fault, not the camera’s. My wife loved it so much, she stole it, and now I’ll be buying another one
just try both cameras, see for yourself the difference! D3 feels much better in my hand then the 5d. The button layout and design feels so much more natural on all Nikons to me over the Canons. Don’t get me wrong, the Canon cameras are really good, just I preffer Nikon. I own both Nikons and Canons.
Leica forever!!!
canon has the better lenses too. face facts my friend. D3 is an awesome camera but not good enough to switch from my canon 5d. The 5d is the best camera for its price point ….end of story
another dumb canon user..
uh, no i do not agree
could have had a canon 5d for half the price and just as good of camera as the D3.
ignorance is bliss, eh?
The product’s all right - shame the company is so amateur.
I’ve had (D1H, D1X,) 2x D2X and also a D2Xs. Rest assured, that in Brit parlance, the D3 kicks the shit out the D2-series cameras. FF needs a bit of getting used to, but otherwise a fantastic piece of kit.
And forget the D300 for your type of work. I’ve had a D300, and have just sold it. Nothing intrinsically wrong, but those who’ve used the pro Nikon bodies will understand. It’s a feel and confidence thing.
Good luck mate (from one who did 16yrs in the UK military)
nice vids, pics, and camera =D
That’s what she said.
d40x is 3 fps, like the d80 the d40 is only 2.5
that one serious piece of equipment, look at that thing massive in a girls hands ,
I am British Army Combat photographer and I recently shot all my work using D2Xs. I use 2 bodies and despite the dust and heat, it delivered every time. For a sample of my work please search WarTTL. Regards to all and look forward to the D3 with much interest
ROFL… go away lamer

Its 2.5 to 3 fps
Happy new year!!! wooooooohoooo!
