Can I buy regular square tiles and set them down in my front yard?

We just bought a house! I have no landscaping experience. We have a good size window in front. There are 3 small ugly bushes right infront!. I was wondering if i take them out..(easy) can i just buy regular tile from the depot to make some what of a “porch”? Do i need to buy sement or other $$ items? I wanted a nice area where I can sit and and chill. I have photos i can email of my yard,l if it helps giving advice.

  1. When you say tile….do you mean the cement type of squares, if so, yes. But not like tile that goees in your house. It has to have special applications and outside is not one of them.

  2. Yes make sure you are using outdoor/gardening tiles. Also be very careful about pulling up the bushes if they are close to the foundation. Many bushes have vigorous root systems and grow underneath the foundation and can cause major damage by uprooting them.

  3. Home Depot and stores like that sell all kinds of outdoor brick and tiles. Dig down a bit under the area(s) where you are laying the tile so that your tiles are not elevated.
